61: Umurangi Generation - It's Got A Dolphin DJ

Always fun playing a new kind of game, and photography simulator was one we hadn't tackled yet. Umurangi Generation was not only fun, but it was also amazingly well-crafted and told a poignant story with a thought-provoking POV. Really refreshing and just a great time overall. Hope you get a chance to play it!
We start off by talking about how the game came to be in the first place, then get into the gameplay (28:30) and then play "What's The Drink? What's The Song?" (50:30). We eventually get onboard at the Recommendation Station (59:15) and then spotlight an indie developer (1:12:00) and finally talk about next month's game (1:15:00). Enjoy!

We played another game! I know, just when you thought we could never top the greatness of our previous episode, we go out and do just that! Anyway, here's a great game called A Short Hike that we all really got a kick out of. It's a shorty, but a goodie. Give it a shot and I bet you'll love it.

Welcome to spring! To celebrate the new blooms on the trees and new baby animals springing up everywhere, we're playing a game entirely centered around death and dying...but in the cutest way possible! Seriously though, this game was heavy, and light, and well, basically EVERYTHING to us. So much so, that we had to bring on a special guest, Corrigan's sister Erin. She helped us process our thoughts and emotions as we discussed the ups and downs of one of our favorite games of all time: Spiritfarer. Enjoy!

Someday we'll make it back to a 1980s LucasArts game...BUT NOT TODAY! This month we're diving deep into Donut County and loving every sugary crumb of it. It's not often a game is created, designed, programmed, scored, and produced by just one person...but this one somehow was and it's kind of a masterpiece! So get your pink boxes ready and your dust off the powdered sugar from your favorite headphones. Let's get into it...

(51:45) before dropping our first ever kids-led segment...Kid County! Ep 55: Escape From Monkey Island - No One Can Justify Monkey Kombat

We're getting back to our roots and really pandering to our target audience (and ourselves) with this month's throwback: Escape From Monkey Island. Released in Y2K, this beast of a puzzle-monkey-kombat-adventure game is full of some of our favorite characters, locations, inside jokes, and even a nod to the name of the pod itself! Hope you get a chance to play this gem, but if not, it's kinda spoilerproof, so strap in and enjoy!
We talk A LOT about the game from a high level, then get into the gameplay specifics finally (26:15), before eventually playing an appetizing round of "What's The Drink? What's The Song?" (46:45). Of course we talk about every other game we've been playing as of late (65:30), and at some point get to talking about next month's game (75:45). (SPOILER ALERT: It's Donut County!)
